Maastricht Debate with Gurmit Singh, Executive Director of the Centre for Environment, Technology and Development(CETDEM), Malaysia, and Hans Labohm, independent economist and publicist.
The evening is moderated by Stafford Wadsworth, Editor & Publisher of the Meuse-Rhine Journal.
Mr Singh is a member of many national and international societies and committees. He is also a well-known environmentalist and social activist. He has organised and managed national and international courses, workshops and studies on environmental issues. In 1993, he received the Malaysian Government's Langkawi Award.

Mr Labohm is independent economist and publicist. He states that "The advent of climate alarmism, fuelled by statements of many prominent politicians and the media, has no scientific justification. Many catastrophic consequences of climate change, such as floods and extreme weather events, have been predicted, which are not 
based on scientific knowledge. Especially the European governments have opted for a climate policy which is completely unrealistic and results in a massive waste of scarce resources."

He is co-author of 'Man-Made Global Warming: Unravelling a Dogma' and expert reviewer of IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change).
Mr. Labohm studied Economics and Economic History at the University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands. After military service, he joined the Ministry of Defence and was posted at the Netherlands Permanent Representation to NATO, Brussels. In 1971, he entered the Netherlands Diplomatic Service and was posted at the Netherlands Embassy in Stockholm, Sweden. In 1974, he returned to the Netherlands, where he held various functions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in The Hague. From 1978, he was Deputy Head of the Policy Planning Staff, being responsible for, among other things, long-term in-depth analysis and speech-writing. From 1987-1992 he was Deputy Permanent Representative of the Netherlands to the OECD (Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development), and Standing Member of the Development Assistance Committee (DAC) of the OECD in Paris, France. From 1992 - 2005, he was Senior Visiting Research Fellow and Advisor to the Board at the Netherlands Institute of International Relations, Clingendael, The Hague.
