Movies, debates and seminars in 2008
In 2008, Maastricht Debates will give explicit attention to Europe in the World with a programme of movies, debates, and seminars:
- May 20, The China strategy in international relations and trade. With Prof. David Zweig, Director of the Center on China's Transnational Relations at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
- April 22. Food or Fuel: a global European dilemma. Organised in cooperation with PvdA and the Evert Vermeerstichting
- April 7. Film Forum on conflicts in Africa, featuring the documentary film 'Another African Story' by award winning filmmaker Emanuele Piano (2005). Organised in cooperation with COS Limburg and Movie theatre Lumière
- March 11, Russia and the EU: Strategic partners or competing neighbours? Organised by Concordantia
- February 19. The politics of Climate Change. With Gurmit Singh and Hans Labohm.
- February 13. Playing in invisible markets: innovating to harness the economic power of the poor. With Dr. Shyama Ramani, Senior Researcher at the National Institute of Agricultural Research in France and Coordinator of the Franco-Indian Tsunami Reconstruction Project. In cooperation with UNU-MERIT Charles Cooper Lecture.

Each debate is organised by issue experts from within the Maastricht network together with internationally oriented study associations. The 2007-2008 series focuses on ‘Global Public Goods’ as the overarching theme.
