Next year: Cities
Half of humanity now lives in cities, and within two decades, nearly 60 per cent of the world’s people will be urban dwellers. That may be in new cities, small cities, or mega cities. Within these cities, almost 40 per cent lives in slums, equals almost 1 billion people. Enough reasons for Maastricht Debates to focus in the academic year of 2010-2011 on Cities.
The first event is on Wednesday October 6, co-organised by the Maastricht Municipality. The title is: Urban connections, Powered by Maastricht, and deals with regional cooperation, being economic, socially and in physical infrastructure.
