The UN is a platform where sovereign states can work out common strategies for tackling global problems, and an instrument for putting those strategies into effect. But the UN can be a much more effective instrument, says Kofi Annan. Tonight’s forum is dedicated to Kofi Annan. On the occasion of his farewell as a Secretary-General of the UN, this forum will discuss his most important report In Larger Freedom. In this report Kofi Annan called for dramatic reconstruction of the UN, "to promote social progress and better standards of life in larger freedom”. The forum will discuss the following issues: development of millennium goals; Freedom from fear (a vision of collective security) and human rights. What did Kofi Annan achieve in 10 years?

Organised by Studium Generale in cooperation with Concordantia
