The organisers
The Maastricht Debates is a collaborate, inclusive initiative of Maastricht-based institutes.
These institutes are: University Maastricht, the Netherlands Chapter of Society for International Development (SID), Europe-open, the European Centre for Development Policy Management (ECDPM), Concordantia, the European Studies study association, and Lumière Cinema (as per 2008). It receives financial support by the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs and NCDO, and operates in collaboration with Municipality Maastricht.
The series has a light organisational structure with a part-time coordinator and a small planning committee. This committee is linking-up with representatives of important Maastricht-based and regional organisations to ensure broad support and commitment, for instance as advisor, co-organiser or host of one of the events. This is in line with the ambition to become an important multi-actor platform for debate.
The people involved are:
- Han Aarts, Director Mundo, University Maastricht
- David Deprez, Director Lumière
- Jannik Fahlisch, Concordantia
- Volker Hauck, Programme Coordinator, ECDPM
- Chris Leonards, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, University Maastricht
- Huub Mudde, Project Coordinator
- Annet de Raadt, Project Officer Society for International Development
