Maastricht Debates is a collaborate, inclusive initiative of Maastricht-based institutes and Society of International Development

These institutes are: Maastricht University, the Netherlands Chapter of Society for International Development (SID), Europe-open Consultancy, the European Centre for Development Policy Management (ECDPM), Concordantia, the European Studies study association, Lumière Cinema, the Centre for International Cooperation Limburg (COS Limburg), and EUX.TV. It receives financial support by the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Europafonds) and NCDO, and operates in collaboration with Municipality Maastricht

The series has a light organisational structure with a part-time coordinator and a programme committee. This committee is linking-up with representatives of important Maastricht-based and regional organisations to ensure broad support and commitment, for instance as advisor, co-organiser or host of one of the events. This is in line with the ambition to be an important multi-actor platform for debate.

The people involved are:

  • Han Aarts, Director Mundo, Maastricht University
  • Sueli Brodin, Editor Crossroads
  • Rohlee Deguzman, COS Limburg
  • David Deprez, Director Lumière
  • Rob van Duijn, Studium Generale, Maastricht University
  • Volker Hauck, Head of Knowledge Management, ECDPM
  • Chris Leonards, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Maastricht University
